SNEWS® Live: In 1999, professional climber Stuart Alexander Lowe — commonly known as Alex Lowe — was killed in an avalanche while exploring the Tibetan Himalaya. A freak accident on the 26,000-foot peak Shishapangma also took the life of fellow expeditioner and filmmaker David Bridges, but spared Alex’s best friend and climbing partner Conrad Anker. At the age of 41, Alex left behind three young children and a loving wife.

Jennifer Lowe mourned the passing of her husband, but took great comfort in the support of his friend Conrad. Through their shared grief, they discovered affection for one another and then fell in love. They married and Conrad became the adoptive father of Alex’s sons, Max, Sam and Isaac.

In her new memoir, “Forget Me Not,” Jennifer Lowe-Anker reveals the intimate details of her life of 18 years with Alex and the new life she has created with Conrad.

At Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2008 in Salt Lake City, Utah, she sat down with SNEWS® Live to candidly discuss her views on loss and love in the great adventure of life.
