Camping World has acquired a Chicago-based, family-owned chain, Uncle Dan’s Outfitters. The specialty retailer sells outdoor gear, apparel, and camping supplies. Brands include Patagonia, The North Face, Canada Goose, Icebreaker, Merrell, Mountain Hardware, and Hydro Flask.
Uncle Dan’s has locations in four bustling Chicago neighborhoods, including Lakeview, Highland Park, Lincoln Park, and Lincoln Square. The store was founded in 1972 by Brent and Mark Weiss with a goal to “help outfit the great people of Chicago to explore the outdoors”.
According to their website, Uncle Dan’s only carries products the owners would use and wear themselves. In a release, Camping World said the Uncle Dan’s acquisition will strengthen the Illinois-based company’s position in the broader outdoor lifestyle market.
