We launched TreePod Hanging Habitats via a successful Kickstarter campaign in 2015 with the original product built primarily for kids to serve as an instant treehouse or colorful play space.

Since then we had a lot of “big-kids” contacting us about a more adult-friendly model with neutral colors, a more sophisticated look, and one that’s suitable for interior or exterior use. We listened, and in 2017 we launched the TreePod Cabana and Lounger on Kickstarter with a modest goal of $20,000.

The shape was inspired by the whimsical Herman Miller Magis Spun Chair, but the concept plays on the same age old idea of a private space and hammock – a peaceful, hanging retreat that can be set up anywhere from a single point of suspension. It can be used in the indoors, outdoors, car camping, at the beach, or in a park.

The TreePod Cabana is the breezier version with mesh walls, and the Lounger is more of a private nook with all canvas walls. Both models are available in a variety of colors and sizes (4-6 ft in diameter, 1.2-1.8 m) with accessories like a bug net, rain fly, and TreePod Stand for when there are no suitable trees.

All models are capable of supporting up to 500 lbs (227 kg). We finished the most recent Kickstarter campaign with over $300,000 in global crowdfunding support, which really shows the potential of this product for people all over the world. We like to think it’s popular because people are realizing they need to relax more. We look forward to helping them do just that.
