Pitched by Hangtime Gear:
We’re Hangtime, a Santa Fe, New Mexico-based startup, designing and manufacturing innovative solutions for the tech and outdoor industries.
Our debut product, the KOALA, is a rugged smartphone leash that keeps your phone safe and secure while you adventure in the outdoors.
Because sh*t happens.
A skier on a ski lift, a kayaker floating down a river, or a hiker in the backcountry all share the same problem. Their phones can drop and break or be lost for good. Aside from the frustration, inconvenience, and cost of having to replace a damaged or lost phone, your phone is often a lifeline to safety. Additionally, phones are packed full of toxic materials that can damage fragile wilderness ecosystems.
Since launching on Indiegogo in September, we’ve raised more than $350,000 and attracted over 11,000 backers. The crowdfunding campaign is your chance to snag a KOALA for just $15—and receive it just in time for ski season.

Key product features of the KOALA include:
- A simple, secure, and compact camera-friendly design slips over any phone, with or without a case.
- The harness allows unobstructed access to both front and rear facing cameras on most popular smartphones.
- The tether is tightly coiled to keep your phone off the ground (in case it falls) but also extends to about 4 feet in length (for selfies).
- A self-tightening clamp attaches easily to your jacket or backpack.
Once the Indiegogo campaign ends on Nov. 11, the KOALA will be available for purchase on our website for $25.
