The Sherpa Adventure Gear Yatra Pack is the backpack I didn’t need, but absolutely had to have. While it isn’t the most technical pack I own, it has all the bells and whistles essential for a day around town, or even for a short, cool day hike. And it’s the perfect mix of trendy and utilitarian.
At 21.5 liters with a rolltop, I can slide my laptop inside the fleece-lined pocket and have plenty of room to fit a 500-page hardcover book alongside a change of clothes or extra layers. Two easy-snapping front pockets are deep enough to fit my wallet, headphones, and other accessories, but not too deep that items don’t get lost and tangled. In the two stretchy side pockets, I’ve been storing a Nalgene water bottle in one and my sunglasses case in the other.
I’m a big fan of the mustard-colored CORDURA fabric that’s both durable and a new take on bland brown. And I also appreciate the ventilating, padded shoulder straps complete with D-rings, where I hook my keys. All in all, this pack does a good job marrying comfort and function with fashion.
But what I love most is that if you buy the 10-liter everyday version of this pack for $20 at Outdoor Retailer next week, all your money goes to Big City Mountaineers, the nonprofit mentoring under-resourced youth outdoors through transformative wilderness experiences. Stop by Sherpa’s booth (36097-UL) at 4 p.m. MT on Wednesday (Day 3) to snap up one of the limited supply, five of which will randomly include a code good for $300 worth of Sherpa gear.
