In our new video series, Sure Winners, we give you the earliest possible scoop on products we think your customers will love. This time: Primus’ PrimeTech Stove Set.
The new PrimeTech Stove Set from Primus hits a sweet spot for backpackers who are conscious of weight and space, but still want a fully-featured cook system that lets them make meals that go beyond Ramen.
The set comes with two nesting pots: One has a nonstick coating and a built in heat exchanger for cooking sticky foods or sauces, the other is hard-anodized and scratch-resistant. But unlike some other integrated stove systems, this burner has flip-out pot supports which means the burner can accommodate larger pots and frying pans, too.
Thanks to the remote fuel canister the burner has a low, stable footprint. The stove itself includes a built in windscreen and a new fuel regulator, which Primus says controls the flow of fuel to boost efficiency and improve cold weather performance. Other nice touches include a clear strainer lid and a storage sack that doubles as an insulator, so you can keep your puttanesca sauce hot while the spaghetti cooks.
Bottom line: For foodies who like to cook–but not carry the kitchen sink–the PrimeTech systems look very promising.
Available in 2 sizes.
1 lb. 10 oz. (complete set, not including fuel)
