Black Diamond Equipment announced a recall Thursday for carabiners, quickdraws and nylon runners.
Some nylon runners were improperly made with masking tape holding the two ends together, meaning they can’t hold weight and will fail under normal use, according to the recall. Some carabiners and quickdraws may have defects in the gate that could cause them to become detached.
No accidents or injuries have been reported, Black Diamond said, but the company is asking people to inspect their products and contact them for a replacement if they have defective items.
On nylon runners, check the sewn-in labels for manufacturing codes 2014 or 2015.

For carabiners and quickdraws, products with manufacturing codes between 4350 and 6018 may be affected.
Inspect and look for the following to ensure your products can be used safely, Black Diamond wrote:
– For solid gate carabiners, check that gates are properly riveted.
– For wiregate carabiners, check that gate wire ends are properly formed.
– For screwgate locking carabiners, check that the gates and locking sleeves are assembled correctly and function properly.
– All carabiner gates should fully close when released from any position.
