Cybex International, in Medway, Mass., recently voluntarily recalled 234 Olympic Decline free weight benches that were sold directly to gyms from December 2008 to September 2013 due to fall and injury hazard.

None

Company officials said while no injuries reported, the company did receive nine reports of frames giving way near the welding point.

The model numbers of the units, which were sold for $1,100, are 16060, 16061 and 16062. Model numbers can be found on the bottom of the bench’s tube connecting the feet. Serial numbers range from C1208 to H0913.

All models are traditional Olympic benches that accommodate a 7-foot wide Olympic bar. The back of the bench declines from the knee to the shoulders at a 15-degree angle.

The remedy is a free repair and gyms with this product can call the company at 888-678-3846 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Eastern time, Monday through Friday. Or visit www.cybexintl.com and click on ‘Support’ for more information. Cybex recommends not using the product at all until it’s been repaired.
