Even as news reports continue to add fuel to the fire burning into consumer confidence, a recent survey by research firm Worthlin Worldwide finds that 6 of 10 American shoppers say they intend to spend the same or more this holiday season versus last year. Thirty-nine percent of those surveyed said they would spend less. Of those surveyed, 35 percent of those 35 years old and under say they will spend more this holiday season while only 10 percent of the 55 and older group say they will spend more. The telephone survey included 1,001 adult Americans and was conducted between Sept. 21 and 26.
