The summer version of ispo wrapped up its run last week, with attendance by an estimated 35,000 — 20,000 from outside of Germany — who visited 1,403 exhibitors from 48 countries (only slightly fewer than last year). According to our SNEWS® reporter on the scene, the slightly lower numbers weren’t apparent in the outdoor area, which still bustled with activity, as well as in the new running area. Nevertheless, the SNEWS® reporter told us the atmosphere was somewhat flat, since many outdoor companies prefer to exhibit at the show’s winter version and in the summer head for the OutDoor specialty show in Friedrichshafen. For example, not present were Jack Wolfskin, Tatonka, Marmot or Hilleberg. One very pleased exhibitor was the distributor “Klett Sportartikels GmbH,” who found a super response to the Scarpa shoes (Klett also distributes Mountain Hardwear and Royal Robbins, with Osprey added to that group soon). Ciclo Sports was also pleased with the response to its distance-measuring device that was developed together with Siemens and is appearing at retail in Germany by the end of the month.
