Black Diamond Equipment has been given an Entrepreneur of the Year Award for the state of Utah. The award is given to 10 companies annually in each state by Ernst & Young, USA Today, the NASDAQ Stock market, and others. Black Diamond won this prestigious award in the manufacturing category. The award was bestowed on the senior management team at BD of Maile Buker, Scot Carlson, Chris Grover, Christian Jaeggi, Peter Metcalf and Mark Ritchie for their commitment to preservation and access to the mountain environment while developing innovative products and establishing Black Diamond as a leader in the marketplace. Winners from each state are eligible for a national Entrepreneur of the Year Award where former recipients include, Michael Dell of Dell Computers, Howard Schultz of Starbucks Coffee and Steve Case of America Online. Additional sponsors of the award include: CNN and Kaufmann Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership. The award was supported in Utah by AT&T Broadband, Utah Business, Merrill Lynch and the Deseret News.
