East Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies seized 50,000 pairs of counterfeit Vans footwear in a Sept. 20 raid, a Vans' spokesperson announced.

East Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies seized 50,000 pairs of counterfeit Vans footwear in a Sept. 20 raid, a Vans’ spokesperson announced. The counterfeit Vans were valued at an estimated $2.35 million, In addition, the owners of three stores, Chen Chun Fen, of Mike’s Shoes, Yuguan Wu, of Lightning Shoes and Lan Quing Zhang, of Peter’s Shoes, were arrested. Chris Overholser, Vans marketing director stated that although the footwear did not bear the Vans logo, it did feature side stripe and outsole designs that are registered trademarks of the company. Indications are that the counterfeiters planned to distribute the footwear in Southern California, Mexico and Latin America.
