Exped and The North Face have each won an award for their products at the OutDoor trade show that is just wrapping up Tuesday in Friedrichshafen, Germany. At an awards ceremony Friday evening, Exped won the award for Best Product 2002 for its Down Airmattress for its performance and potential while maintaining an attractive price. The Airmattress is a self-inflating insulated sleeping pad filled with highly compressible down that is three times warmer than a normal pad, yet compresses to an inch thick. The North Face won the award for Innovation of the Year for its Met5 Jacket, a piece of “smart clothing” that uses Malden Mills Polartec Heat Technology integrated into the chest that can heat up and keep the wearer warm.
