Did you hear?… France's winter sports trade show has suddenly been moved to January

Mon Dieu! France’s winter sports trade show traditionally held in March after the busy February ski and holiday season has suddenly been moved to January, causing a dissident group to decide to hold its own show in March anyway, French insiders have told SNEWS®. The traditional SIG show in March, organized by a private company but supported by the country’s trade associations and retailers, announced the change just last week, sending the industry there into an uproar over location and timing since the late change may doom attendance. The dissident show is scheduled for an out-of-the way town called Chambery in the Savoie region in the Alps in Southern France between Grenoble and Annecy, which leaves some to question who will really attend. Insiders say that because of ispo’s timing in Germany, few if any French winter sports trade attend. The trade show shuffle a la francaise doesn’t stop there however: The Action Sports show in Paris called Glissexpo (Jan. 26-28), which is considered the most important trade show event in France, is now only less than a week after the new SIG show (Jan. 20-22).
