If you haven’t come up with a reason to go to the summer OutDoor show in Friedrichshafen yet, then how about for a go-cart race? Each year, Jack Wolfskin and Gore square off in a head-to-head, company-against-company annual race in typical teeny go-carts. The race takes place at the Freidrichshafen airport (Are they really going that fast?!) About 30 people — half from each company and a couple from Germany’s Outdoor magazine — take part in two races. This year, Thomas Kiebler from Gore won one heat, while a Wolfskin-ite took the second one. Seems Wolfskin CEO Manfred Hellwasn’t able to make it, which disappointed some since the real challenge was usually trying to maneuver past that speed-demon! The grand prize? A three-liter bottle of Hefeweizen. Sigh. Only in Germany.
