GU Sports has signed a deal with the RLX Polo team to be the team’s official gel and drink. RLX becomes the first pro team to ride with both GU and GU2O. GU tells us that RLX riders will be sporting a new, limited-edition water bottle this season with the GU, GU2O and RLX logos and that the bottles would start showing up in the riders’ cages this month. SNEWS® View: So, how close does the GU marketing team think the TV camera gets? Is anyone watching a bike race on TV, or in person, really going to read a bottle in a bike cage and go, “Oh Wow…that team uses GU” and then suddenly get the urge to go out and buy some? Perhaps they know something we don’t. On the other hand, if they can make sure the team holds the bottle at chest level and then drinks from it in after-race interviews, they may have something there.
