Johnson Health Tech has issued on the Livestrong Fitness website a recall notice for three elliptical models that just came to market at Dick’s Sporting Goods in October.
According to the notice, the company has identified a potential problem with some of the 2009-2010 elliptical models manufactured under the Livestrong brand name. Those include certain pieces of the LS7.9e, LS9.9e, and LS12.9e models, the statement said.
“In some instances, it is possible for the pedal to become disengaged, which has the potential to cause a user to slip and fall. Most of the issues are occurring directly out of the box and no injuries have been recorded. This issue can be fixed through replacement of the pedal link arm and foot pedal,” reported the web statement. The statement can be found by clicking to the Livestrong site www.livestrongfitness.com/recall/ or by clicking here for the Horizon Fitness site.
A spokesman for the company told SNEWS® that Johnson Health Tech is working with the Consumer Products Safety Commission on the voluntary recall, and both will issue a press release with repair information soon. As of Dec. 3, there was no CPSC recall notice or press release.
“If you have purchased one of these models, we ask that you cease using it immediately until we determine if your unit is part of the recall,” the statement by Johnson said.
The statement noted the company is working on a voluntary correction plan, including a process for consumers to have the equipment repaired.
Users are asked to contact Johnson Health Tech at 1-800-962-3596, or at ellipticalsupport@livestrongfitness.com for additional information.
