The American Canoe Association (ACA) joins Friends of the Reedy River, James River Basin Partnership, Rebecca Kress and Tom Goynes as the most recent recipients of Perception Kayaks’ River Conservationist of the Year awards, presented annually since 1981. “The American Canoe Association was one of the recipients of the award because of their achievements made in protecting the waterways for all outdoor enthusiasts,” says Perception Marketing Manager Sharon Riddle. In addition, since initiating its legal enforcement program in 1995, ACA has been one of the nation’s leading enforcers of the Federal Clean Water Act. Through environmental litigation on behalf of its members, ACA has prevailed in more than two-dozen CWA cases, including cases that protect rivers in North Carolina, Florida, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and other states. As a winner of the award, ACA received $300 to fund continued conservation efforts.
