Did you hear?… REI to open two stores in the Puget Sound area

Recreational Equipment Inc. (REI), announced that it has signed lease agreements to open two stores in the Puget Sound area by November 2002. The two stores will be in Tacoma, at the Rainier Place shopping center, and in Tukwila, at Southcenter. REI has also announced its plans to open a third store in the Atlanta, Georgia area in spring 2003. REI opened its first store in Atlanta in 1990. Both Puget Sound stores will be about 22,000 square feet and will employ about 60 full- and part-time staff. Two new stores opening in Northern California this month, in Santa Rosa and Roseville (near Sacramento), plus the two stores in Puget Sound will bring the total number of REI stores this fall to 63.
