Despite Schoeffel CEO Peter Schoeffel proclaiming at an ispo press conference in February how important the woman’s brand Klepper is to the company, Schoeffel is now discussing a possible sale of Klepper with “several interested parties,” a company spokesman told SNEWS®. “But no final decisions have been made,” the spokesman said. Other sources in Germany say a decision could be made by the middle of May about whether the brand stays in the Schoeffel family. At the ispo trade show, Peter Schoeffel had said, “I’m convinced Klepper fits alongside Schoeffel, and I’d do it (acquire it) all over again.” He also said at that time that the company was optimistic that “we’re on the right path” with the brand. This week, however, sources in Germany said that the company believes Klepper may do better in the fashion arena than it can in the sports arena, and that energies the company is putting into Klepper would be better spent on the growing Schoeffel brand.
