The latest SGMA trends report on Outdoor Recreation 2001 reports that of 26 sports and recreation activities listed as favorites, half of them are considered outdoor (note that’s not just human-powered athletic pursuits, but also the likes of RV camping, as well as hook-and-bullet activities). The report also states that 50 percent or more of participants in many endeavors are woman, including in cross-country skiing, rafting, and kayaking. Among “favorite” sports, martial arts comes up No. 1 with tackle football No. 2 (who are these respondents?), then wresting and cheerleading, with the first “outdoor” activity being hunting in the No.-5 position.
