We have received an alert from a specialty fitness retail SNEWS® reader about several emails received that are requesting a purchase of a large quantity of exercise equipment.
In these cases, both were from an alleged “Ray Martin,” with one asking to buy a large number of Diamondback climbers and another asking about pricing on treadmills. The email read (and we are printing it exactly as it was received, errors and all):
“I will like to Order of Treadmills And i want you to get back to me with the total qoute for the Treadmills following without shipping but i need the total cost with tax And this The Type Of Treadmills Size dimensions: 40 x 80 And I want you Email me Back with the pick up price for the Treadmills okay. Also what types of Credit Card do you accept? And If you dont have this type of Treadmills ,let me know the types of Treadmills that are available. I also want you to Provide me with your Full Name, Phone Number and also Indicate your Position in The Shop. I hope to hear from you Soon”
Considering the broken English, we assume it is spam — albeit not from Nigeria…. Guess Nigerian spammers don’t think there is a future in exercise equipment.
SNEWS has over the years received requests for pricing on equipment and accessories, which we quickly delete. If anybody else has had any interaction with these emailers, let us know. And don’t forget where your delete button is.
