Did you hear?… The Third Annual Round Bowen Island Kayak Race was held on June 8th

The Third Annual Round Bowen Island Kayak Race, the first event of the Necky Race Series 2002, was held on June 8. Some 90 paddlers ranging from inexperienced to elite during the 20-mile course faced a mix of 10 foot+ seas on the southwest side of Bowen Island, and calm conditions on the northeast. Dave Vanderveen, the series coordinator and a seasoned racer himself said, “After the race, there was a buzz about the ‘big’ conditions on the back side of the island.
