Glen Bernard, publisher of Canoe and Kayak magazine, just informed us that Tim Jackson has just announced that he’ll be resigning as its lead editor within the next month. “His wife, Tracy, has tapped into an unexpected fast track opportunity toward completion of her doctorate at ‘Bama. She’s been down there already for about four months and thought she’d be back to the NW this summer, then this opportunity came up. Apparently this is a great deal for her and will mean they’ll need to relocate back to Tuscaloosa. Tim will become an adjunct faculty member there and have a chance to teach some journalism courses, and of course, do some freelancing. It’s always a challenge finding the right match for this particular job, but I look at it as an opportunity to grow and strengthen the business and plan to shoot high in seeking the right combo of sufficient publication and editorial management experience, passion for the outdoors (ideally for paddling too), ‘the vision thing,’ and a cooperative attitude.”
