Timberland World Trading GmbH Munich is trying to accelerate its growth with a new collection of clothing being sold in Europe as a test through Fall 2002. The lifestyle apparel, made in Italy, will be available only in small quantities in Timberland’s own brand stores and in select franchises and should help the brand become less reliant on sport. Andreas Schmidt, managing director for the brand in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since the beginning of the year, said in Germany the brand is looking for double-digit growth for 2001, and pre-orders for 2002 already indicate similar growth. Timberland also expects to expand in Germany, where it now has seven brand stores and six franchises, Schmidt said. The company is now negotiating for two additional locations.
