In a recent survey in Germany, results showed that travelers seem to have a “short-term memory” when it comes to travel crises or disasters, according to the institute’s director: 47 percent of the 5,000 Germans surveyed said they planned to travel and had firm plans, only insignificantly less than the 49 percent a year ago. Those saying they choose not to travel was the same at 24 percent. Last year a trend was revealed showing an inclination toward choosing shorter and closer-to-home vacations, and that hasn’t changed. Some 23 percent say they’ll stay in Germany on their travels, while last year only 20 percent said they’d stay closer to home.
