The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), The WILD Foundation, and Host Sponsor Animal Planet will honor national and international corporations and their advertising agencies for mounting advertising campaigns featuring wild nature while supporting wilderness and wildlife, at the Third Annual WILD Awards event on Earth Day, April 22 at the Millennium Hotel, New York UN Plaza. Outdoor industry’s own Patagonia garnered the Lifetime Achievement Award. Other award-winners include; Delverde Pasta, S.p.A. and agency Roncaglia & Wijkander (International Excellence); Weyerhaeuser Company and agency Dailey & Associates (National Excellence); Whole Foods Market (Regional Excellence); Larry Kopald (Joseph R. Daly Award for Excellence in Communication for Nature); and businessman Robert B. Haas (Special Recognition in Business, Personal Commitment, and Nature Conservation). According to WILD, the Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Patagonia for “its relentless global environmental concern and for featuring wild nature in their catalogs. Since 1985, Patagonia has contributed 1 percent of sales or 10 percent of pre-tax profits, whichever is greater, to protection and restoration of the natural environment.” For more, click on www.wildawards.org.
