Werner Paddles has announced that it will make a donation of $10,000 to American Whitewater, supporting both specific efforts to secure access on the Skykomish River in Washington State, and to grow American Whitewater’s access efforts nationwide. “This is an exciting shift in how we support the continued growth and health of our sport,” said Shelley Furrer, marketing director for Werner Paddles. In the past, we’ve always supported American Whitewater and river conservation efforts indirectly through festival donations. This year we are taking a more direct approach by forming a Corporate Partnership with American Whitewater-Access Fund. Our donation will be used to match funds previously raised for the “Sky Access Fund”, with the primary objective to purchase access to an important put-in on the Skykomish River. We have asked that the balance go to AW efforts to restore and protect whitewater river access efforts nationwide.” For more information on the Sky Access Fund, click on www.americanwhitewater.org/archive/article/187/
