Windsong Allegiance Group has created a new division, Windsong Sport, to drive what it hopes will be a growing sports and apparel business. Fran Matthews, who was just named as president of the golf division on Aug. 8, will lead the new business unit. That division, which includes Como Sport and Pivot Rules, is now a part of Windsong Sport. Matthews has had stints at Tommy Hilfiger Golf, Polo/Ralph Lauren Golf, and launched her own line of high-end golf apparel under the Babe Didrikson brand. According to Windsong, Matthews will be responsible for the planning and execution of acquisitions and brand expansion of a diverse portfolio of men’s and women’s sports brands. Windsong is perhaps best remembered to the outdoor industry for its failed attempt to operate and expand the Vaude brand distribution program in the United States during 2003 and 2004.
