Did you hear?…Woman snares hair in descending device

According to a report in the Idaho Statesman, a woman, who declined to give the reporter her name, spent 30 minutes dangling 20 feet above the ground after her hair became entangled in the descending device she was using. The report stated she was rappelling with friends at 6:30 p.m. down a 65-foot cliff next to the Boise River near Diversion Dam when her hair got snared. One of the three men with her at the time tried to assist, but ended up getting his shirt caught in the device as well. He tore his shirt to free himself and then 911 was called. Firefighters rigged their own rope and lowered a firefighter to the woman. He reportedly cut off a small section of her hair, and once she was free, lowered her to the ground. Of even greater interest was the fact the fire department spokesperson stated that the department has responded to three such calls in recent years.
