Former IHRSA executive director John McCarthy has been named a member of the board of directors at Cybex International. McCarthy retired from IHRSA earlier this year…. Florida-based Busy Body/Gyms to Go is expanding again. Co-owner Carlos Vazquez reports the company has five more stores opening in the next six weeks, taking them to 22 total stores. “We’re just trying to make sure we own our backyard,” Vazquez said….

Some changes at SportsArt Fitness in the last month: Reina Reeves has been promoted to national sales manager, retail division. She had been western regional sales manager for a couple of years and, prior to that, was national sales manager at Hoist Fitness for more than eight years. Meanwhile, Ken Carpenter has been promoted to director of sales overseeing both the retail and commercial divisions. Also, James Mayberry has moved from the commercial division to become the company’s new western regional manager for the retail division, and John Price, the company’s “outstanding salesperson of the year” for the last two years, has been moved from Midwest sales manager, retail division, to eastern region sales manager….

24 Hour Fitness Worldwide announced recently it has named Carl C. Liebert III, 41, as CEO and a member of the board of directors. Company founder Mark S. Mastrov will continue as chairman of the board…. At the October IHRSA board of directors meeting, Joe Moore was unanimously selected as the president and CEO. He has served in that role on an interim basis since July 1, 2006, when John McCarthy retired…. Changes in staff positions at Precor: SNEWS® mentioned on Aug. 1 that Larry Domingo was the company’s new director of sales, overseeing both retail and commercial, promoted from commercial director. Last month, in a sales department reorganization to streamline function, Ken Kobayashi, director of consumer sales; Jim Ries, southeastern regional sales manager; and Scott Fisher, Great Lakes regional sales manager, all left the company. Meanwhile, Bob Harms, formerly with TKO and new to Precor in August, has taken over a number of accounts, both commercial and retail….

A jury trial on the trademark infringement charges brought by Nautilus against Icon four years ago has been postponed from Oct. 10 to late February 2007. This could coincide with the results from a federal appeal by Nautilus on the judgment concerning the patent infringement section of the charge that was brought simultaneously but was separated.
