Star Trac and Mad Dogg Athletics have announced they signed an agreement to continue their joint marketing and distribution arrangement for the Spinning program for another 10 years. First aligned in 2002, initially in a five-year contract, Mad Dogg came to Star Trac after it split up with Schwinn Fitness in a messy dispute after Schwinn was sold in bankruptcy auction to Nautilus in 2001…. Josh Macht is the new national sales director at Vision Fitness. Not a new face, Macht started at Vision nine years ago when the company was a year old and has worked a multitude of positions, mostly recently as director of operations. He replaced Steve Lindenau who recently moved to Diamondback as president…. Adam Horwitz is no longer director of consumer sales and marketing for Life Fitness, having moved to a different position with Brunswick’s Mercury Marine segment. Sales and strategy queries should be directed to Blaine Barnett (blaine.barnett@lifefitness.com) and marketing queries will be handled by Neil Taylor (neil.taylor@lifefitness.com).
Bally Total Fitness (NYSE: BFT) has hired Gayle J. Franger as its new vice president of corporate and brand development. Franger will be responsible for establishing and developing strategic corporate partnerships with key brands and placing an increased focus on marketing the company’s customer service and wellness initiatives. Franger joins Bally from the McDonald’s Corp. where she served as marketing director for the company’s Woman’s and Wellness/Experience initiatives…. GlobalFit, a provider of employee and group fitness benefits, has named Frank J. Napolitano, Jr. Esq., as president and CEO. Napolitano most recently was senior vice president, strategic planning and special projects for Town Sports International (Nasdaq: CLUB).
