There are changes in leadership at Merrell and Chaco. Seth Cobb steps into a newly created position of vice president and general manager of Merrell. He is now responsible for the Merrell business strategy and growth initiatives on a global basis, while still retaining direct responsibility for the Merrell U.S. business. Merrell global team will now report directly to Cobb, including: Craig Throne (global marketing), Bill Dodge (global product), Christian Triquet (Canada), Linda Brunzell (international), Jean-Pierre Petit (EMEA), Mark Sandquist (global apparel) and Chris Hufnagel (global retail)…. Chip Coe also assumes a new role as vice president and general manager of Chaco on a global basis. Reporting directly to Coe are: Brandan Hill, director of product development; Whitney Conner, marketing manager; and Tom Stolz, national sales manager…. OGIO has hired Ryan Crosby as the brand’s national sales manager for the collegiate division. Crosby brings more than 10 years of experience to the brand, with his most recent serving as director of sales and licensing for college for MJ Soffe LLC, a North Carolina-based apparel company…. Birkenstock USA has added six territory managers and four field service reps to its sales team. New territory managers are: Scott Renner, Mountain region; Erik Ernstrom, Southwest region; Austin Martin, Northwest region; Howard Jones, Northern California region; Stephanie Militello, Southern California region; and Kourtney Kaisher, Southeast region. New reps include: Nathan O’Neal, Southeast region; Paul Schultz, Lower Midwest region; Donnie Flahavan, Northwest region and California/Nevada; and Ryan Goralski, Upper Midwest region….
Lauren Price, a Project OR contestant from Winter Market 2010, will become Polarmax’s product manager in March after she completes her second internship with the company. During her first internship with Polarmax, Price helped design a new line of base layers using wicking material called Transdry Cotton developed in conjunction with Cotton Inc. As a product manager, Price, who graduated from Florida State University with degrees in apparel design and merchandising, will continue to be involved in product design. “We’re really excited about Lauren coming on board,” Polarmax President Randy Black told SNEWS reporter Elizabeth Hurst. “We’re looking to bring younger people into the company and Lauren really fits with the company profile.”…
Import cargo volume at the nation’s major retail container ports is expected to be up 11 percent in February over the same month last year and the first half of 2011 should be up 6 percent over the same period in 2010, according to the monthly Global Port Tracker report released by the National Retail Federation and Hackett Associates….
