GearTrends® launches new features, partners with ASO

GearTrends.com has launched several new features this week as the entire Network family continues to grow and reach out to serve an ever expanding customer base -- GearTrends magazines now online and GearTrends partners with Adventure Sports Online.

GearTrends.com has launched several new features this week as the entire Network family continues to grow and reach out to serve an ever expanding customer base.

GearTrends magazines now available online

In response to an overwhelming number of calls from industry members seeking additional copies of our GearTrends magazines — Winter Outdoor mailed in January, and Fitness mailed this month — we are placing high-quality PDF versions of our magazines online for download, beginning with Winter Outdoor.

“In keeping with our high standards for quality, the PDFs are being made available in high-quality Acrobat PDF format, and will be presented complete with advertising and full imagery for maximum enjoyment by our readers,” said GearTrends Co-publisher Michael Hodgson.

GearTrends members will be able to simply log in with their current username and password to obtain quick access. All others, including consumers, will be able to access the magazines after registering online.

“By placing our magazine content online, we are furthering our commitment to creating community through communication by providing direct access to the same market-leading editorial, feature articles and product information that so many industry professionals have told us they find so helpful and thought-provoking,” Hodgson added.

Our Winter Outdoor magazine was called by several industry veterans “the best outdoor trade magazine we have ever seen,” and our just mailed Fitness magazine is already drawing equally glowing praise for quality of editorial and design. Our Fitness magazine will be available online by the end of August and Summer Outdoor magazine, shipping this week, will be available online by the end of September.

Beginning with the Fitness magazine, GearTrends will be adding another feature benefit to the PDF downloads by linking all manufacturer advertising with the manufacturer’s member page on GearTrends so consumers and industry members can quickly click and access detailed information on each manufacturer if desired.

Adventure Sports Online and GearTrends enter into a partnership agreement

GearTrends.com has partnered with Adventure Sports Online (www.adventuresports.com) — a leading directory and web-marketing company providing information to consumers about outdoor events, products, tour companies, outfitters and advocacy groups — to share content and information between both sites.

“Our GearTrends Network sites, AdventureNetwork.com and TotalFitnessNetwork.com, have had a long and very successful partnership with Laurel King and Adventure Sports Online, so when the opportunity presented itself to increase our networking outreach, we naturally looked first to ASO,” Michael Hodgson, co-publisher of GearTrends®, said.

Visitors to GearTrends.com will now find a new link, “Find an Outfitter,” which will take them directly to a search engine powered by Adventure Sports Online and provide access to literally thousands of trip and adventure opportunities. Adventure Sports Online also has a logo placed on most GearTrends pages as a GearTrends Partner Site.

In exchange, Adventure Sports has added another section to its site called “Hot New Products” with three directories, one each for Outdoor, Fitness, and Snow Sports. Each directory features GearTrends member companies with a small logo and a brief description for each company. A link from each logo leads web visitors directly back to that company’s GearTrends member company page.

“GearTrends is such a high-quality site and we are excited to be working with their team as a way to bring more industry awareness to our site,” said Laurel King, co-founder and vice president of marketing for ASO. “We are also looking forward to driving a lot of traffic to GearTrends members from our 100,000 to 150,000 unique visitors per month as GearTrends offers essential new product information our visitors are looking for.”
