Health & Fitness Business Show '07: Golf scramble takes amazing shape, adds former NFL pro Steve Beuerlein as guest player!

SNEWS® is ready to bust over the exciting news about our second-annual golf scramble at the Health & Fitness Business Show.

Not only have we lined up a superior beneficiary with fitness ties in Augie’s Quest (raising funds to help find a cure for ALS), plus a great group of industry sponsors, but we can also now confirm a special guest player: Steve Beuerlein, retired 17-year NFL quarterback and now a CBS NFL game analyst and North Carolina-based businessman.

Raising funds for ALS is a cause near and dear to his heart since he has friends who have it or had it, he has told SNEWS®. It’s also a cause near to SNEWS®/GearTrends® since Octane chairman and Life Fitness co-founder Augie Nieto was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) in March 2005 and long-time industry rep and friend, Dennis “OD” O’Donnell, was diagnosed the year before that. Money donated to Augie’s Quest (www.augiesquest.org) will be in honor of both.

Sponsors so far, donating money to help make the event more fun, as well as enable it to donate more to the cause, include the Health & Fitness Business Show, AccuFitness, BH Fitness, Diamondback, FreeMotion Fitness, Octane Fitness and Spri Products. But more are being confirmed.

With all of this just being worked out and more details pending, don’t miss the chance to play golf for a good cause the day before the show, Aug. 1, in Denver, Colo. The show runs Aug. 2-4. Organized by SNEWS®/GearTrends®, the scramble will have a check-in time of 12:30 p.m., and tee time will be 1:30 p.m., with happy hour and prizes scheduled for after the round is complete. The round will cost $500 per foursome, $275 for a group of two, and $140 for a single, with registration requested by July 9, but the earlier the better. (If you are coming alone and just can’t figure out a foursome, be in touch and perhaps SNEWS® can match-make a few singles.)

Reschedule your appointments, plan your flights and get yourself registered as soon as possible, preferably as a pre-set foursome. But stay tuned since there will be more events/games/special appearances to be announced, as well as additional opportunities at the event to raise even more money. It’s guaranteed to be a great pre-show afternoon of fun and networking, all for a good cause.
