Outdoor Industry Association (OIA) is issuing the industry a challenge that SNEWS® endorses 100 percent — offset your travel to and from Outdoor Retailer Winter Market this month by buying energy offset credits. At SNEWS®, we have committed to offset the travel of all our full-time editorial and ownership team by both car and plane to and from Winter Market this year, and we encourage every outdoor industry company attending Winter Market to do the same.

You’ll be able to quickly and easily calculate how much CO2 you and your company will produce during travel to and from Outdoor Retailer’s venue in Salt Lake City, Utah. You can purchase your offsets directly online at this site (which is what the SNEWS® team did and recommends), or wait to buy them onsite at OIA booth 5600 during Winter Market.

At Winter Market, you can pick up your Carbon Neutral Traveler sticker at the OIA booth and also speak with someone about the benefits of emissions offsets and other carbon-reducing strategies for you and your business.

OIA and GoLite also invite offset travelers to wear their Carbon Neutral Traveler sticker to the GoLite “Lite My Fire” Party on day two of Winter Market, Sunday, Jan. 28, from 4-6 p.m. at booths 23001 and 24011. The party will celebrate the outdoor industry’s efforts to “GoLite on the Planet” by reducing environmental impacts. GoLite will donate the company’s DriMove recycled polyester performance layers made with eco-friendly CoCoNa, as well as GoLite’s new trail running footwear to the first 500 Carbon Neutral Traveler party-goers.
