International sales boost Precor 4Q sales

Amer Sports reported higher fitness sales in the fourth quarter 2012 as its Precor fitness equipment brand did well overseas.
The fitness group, led by Precor, notched a 21 percent gain in fourth-quarter sales to EUR 88 million ($119.5 million), driven primarily by an 88 percent increase in Asia and a 39 percent gain in Europe, compared to just a 4 percent rise in the Americas.
For the full-year 2012, Amer’s fitness group increased sales by 18 percent to EUR 273.1 million ($371 million). The commercial business represented 88 percent of sales, while home use accounted for 12 percent.
In total, including the Amer’s Winter and Outdoor and Ball Sports Groups, Amer’s fourth-quarter sales rose 11 percent to EUR 618.5 million ($840 million). For the full-year 2012, Amer’s total sales rose 10 percent to EUR 2.06 billion ($2.8 billon).
