To aid the families of victims lost on Sept. 11, JanSport and Eastpak have donated $62,258 from the sale of select apparel to the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund. Mike Cisler, president of JanSport, said the employees of Jansport and Eastpak banded together to plan the fundraiser and select a non-profit organization to disperse the funds. “We selected the Families of Freedom Scholarship Fund because it symbolizes a strong commitment to the future and reflects on our company’s long relationship with the college community,” he said. Created by the Citizens Scholarship Foundation of America, the nation’s largest administrator of private scholarship programs, and Lumina Foundation for Education, a private foundation dedicated to expanding access to post-secondary education, the fund provides college scholarships for undergraduate education to the dependents of World Trade Center and Pentagon workers, relief workers, and airplane crew and passengers.
