Julie King joins GearTrends® Network writing team

The team at the growing GearTrends® Network, which includes the GearTrends books and website and the electronic trade news source SNEWS, continues to expand with some of the best in the fitness and outdoor industries since its August launch.

As of January 2003, Julie King has joined the team as a senior contributing writer with an expertise in fitness. King, who was most recently senior manager for communications and education at Life Fitness, combines her love for fitness with longtime writing talents and is having fun “flexing my journalistic muscle” in her news writing for SNEWS. She has a degree in journalism from Northwestern University, a master’s degree in kinesiology, has taught group exercise classes for years (up to the last days before her first baby was born in August, thank you very much), and has free-lanced for other fitness trade magazines. Working with others who are as passionate as she is about the industry has her psyched about growing with the SNEWS team. “I’ve always liked SNEWS for its candor and unique position in the industry. It’s a publication that makes me think critically — particularly after reading the insightful SNEWS Views,” King says. “And it also gives me a chuckle or two, which is good for the soul!”

In October, the GearTrends® Network debuted its new website (www.geartrends.com); in November, the team launched its redesigned and more fully featured Specialty News (SNEWS — www.outsidebusinessjournal.com) site. The first GearTrends publication, the Winter Outdoor magazine, will be released in January by mail, as well as at the SIA Cyber Café and the Outdoor Retailer show (booth #3370), and from SNEWS representatives at The Super Show, and at the GearTrends-sponsored Cyber Café at the ispo winter trade show in Germany.
