Kelty recalls Speedster Jogging Stroller

Kelty announced on October 14 that the company is recalling 230 units of its Speedster Jogging Stroller in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The stroller’s handle-locking clips can unlock during use, causing the stroller to collapse.

Kelty has received two reports of handle clips unlocking during use — no injuries have been reported. The company is advising customers to stop using the product immediately and to return recall strollers to Kelty. The company is issuing a full refund, plus a free Kelty daypack, for all units returned by consumers.

The recalled stroller has an aluminum frame and a cloth seat, with a sun canopy. The recalled stroller has model number 20050016 and serial numbers: S1000001D0504 through S1000800D0504 and S1000001D0506 through S1000200D0506. Each stroller has a tag, located inside the child’s seat compartment, which lists the model name and number. A sticker on the rear frame lists the serial number. There are two yellow handle-locking clips, one on each side of the stroller frame that secures the handle from movement.

The strollers were sold in juvenile baby product stores, sporting good stores and Web retailers from May through July 2005 for $250.
