John Lambert
Assistant manager
Recycled Cycles, Fort Collins, Colo.
Why did you decide to open a fitness store?
Recycled Cycles has been doing both used and new fitness sales for over 31 years, and in November 2012 we were given the opportunity to expand our fitness machines and accessories to their own store right next door to the bicycle shop.
How has business been in the fitness side of Recycled Cycles?
Business for us on the fitness side of things has always been great. Just like with our bicycles we offer a very wide range of prices for everyone. We have also been able to develop a relationship with many gyms and rehab centers.
What has been your most popular item?
It’s hard to narrow down our most popular item or items with fitness fads changing every year. Luckily we have something for everyone.
What have been some of the challenges of getting the business up and running?
The only challenge we have faced with opening the new store is making sure our customers know we are still the same Recycled Cycles we have always been. We want them to know that it’s because of their loyalty and word of mouth that we have been able to grow as a store.
How does this complement the bicycle business?
Having the fitness store right next door complements us well when people who ride all year need something to stay active in the winter when conditions aren’t favorable.
What is your favorite part about working in the fitness industry?
The great thing about working in the fitness industry with a company like us is that we have something for everybody, from fitness to rehab and a wide range of prices. We can send everyone home with something that will work for them.
