- Wolverine Worldwide, in Rockford, Mich., promoted Todd Yates to president of its Wolverine and Hytest footwear brands. In this newly formed role, Yates will be responsible for developing and implementing all integrated sales, marketing and product strategies for the brands. Yates, who has been with the company since 2009, previously served as vice president of marketing for the Wolverine, Hytest and Harley-Davidson footwear brands as well as general manager for Wolverine Apparel. Before that, he worked with Woolrich, The North Face and Columbia.
- Hydrapak, in Oakland, Calif., hired Daniel Stearman as a product designer. Stearman has held design positions at The North Face, One Industries and SixSixOne, and has a BFA in product design from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.
- Oboz, in Bozeman, Mont., named Dave Donahue at Kinetic Representatives, in West Chester, Pa., as its new sales agent for the Mid-Atlantic region including Washington, D.C., Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and New York. Donahue also reps Vere Sandals, Exped, Ibex, Pistil Designs and Red Ledge.
- Toko Nordic USA named Leading Edge Northwest, headed up by Dane Stephenson, as its new representative in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Klaus Pittman at Leading Edge will be the main contact for all Toko business; supported by Stephenson and Jason Jablonski, Nordic Specialist for the group.
- SnowSports Industries America (SIA) named Jean-Marc Blais as the organization’s “ambassador” to the Canadian snow sports community. Blais will focus his efforts on communicating and collaborating with the Canadian snow sports industry and facilitating next steps with SIA in light of Canada’s National Snow Industries Association (NSIA) recent announcement of ceasing operations and closing down its Montreal-based trade show.
- Inov-8, the international sports performance brand, recently announced the addition of a Lee Cox as the new vice president of sales for the U.S. Business. Cox comes to Inov-8with more than 20 years of work in sales, marketing and product merchandising/management. His previous experience includes five years at Reebok where he held various management roles in sales, marketing and product strategy for the running business, and a year at New Balance leading the Footwear Merchandising team.
- Nike recently appointed Roger Wyett to vice-president of action sports, with responsibility for its skateboarding and snow businesses. Wyett joined Nike in 1994 and has held a variety of roles, including vice-president of global apparel.
- Terramar Inc. recently announced Colin Sanders was named director of Bridgedale, Terramar Socks North America. Last week, Bridgedale, the UK’s leading brand of technical outdoor and ski socks, announced that Terramar would be its exclusive North American distributor. With years of experience building and growing sock businesses in North America, Sanders joins the Bridgedale team following seven years at Lorpen North America. He will be responsible for line development and distribution of the Bridgedale, Terramar and private labels sock lines.
- NEMO Equipment, Inc. has added a North American sales manager and staff accountant to its in-house team, along with a new outside sales rep for the mid-Atlantic region. Ben Saunders, previously of Ibex Outdoor Clothing, has taken the North American sales manager post; and Lorcan LaFleur has signed on as staff accountant. NEMO has also pulled in Karl Jones, former retail supervisor from EMS’s SoHo store, to represent in the mid-Atlantic.
- Surftech welcomed Sammy Nigh as the new director of North American sales. Before joining Surftech, Nigh previously served as head of sales at Sessions Outerwear and Fox Sportswear. Nigh has most recently worked as the director of sales at Truth Soul Armor. In his new role Nigh will be working with his sales team to provide top notch service and support to Surftech dealers while working with Surftech marketing on the development of high quality POP and sales programs.
- The Izaak Walton League of America, one of the nation’s oldest conservation organizations, named Scott Kovarovics as executive director. Kovarovics brings more than 20 years of managerial and advocacy experience to the position as well as a passion for defending outdoor America for future generations. He has served as the League’s conservation director since January 2008. In that capacity, he advanced the League’s common-sense conservation agenda in the areas of clean water and energy, sustainable agriculture, outdoor education for youth, and more. He has also served as the League’s acting executive director since July 2012.
