  • Helix Lateral Trainer announced the addition of Rich Mizner as its national accounts manager. For more than a decade, Mizner has owned Celebrity Gyms, a company he started in 1999 to design and furnish high-end gyms for celebrities (and other elite businesspeople). His past clients include Hulk Hogan, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Mark Wahlberg and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Prior to that, he spent 11 years with Gold’s Gym Corporation headquarters as the director of its recommended vendor program and the assistant director of gym licensing and franchising.
  • The American Council on Exercise announced five new additions to its Industry Advisory Panel, which seeks to build relationships among leaders in healthcare, corporate America and government. The new members are: Fred Hoffman of Paris, France, a registered respiratory therapist; Rick Mayo of Roswell, Ga., operator of North Point Fitness; Kevin McHugh, COO of the Atlantic Club in Manasquan, N.J.; Bryan O’Rourke, CEO of Integerus in Covington, La.; and Amy Boone Thompson, national director of Personal Training Services at Wellbridge in Denver, Colo.
  • Club Industry reported that Planet Fitness appointed Dorvin Lively as its new chief financial officer. Lively previously served as executive vice president, CFO and chief administrative officer at Radio Shack Corp. He had also held a position as CFO at Ace Hardware Corp.
  • The gym chain Life Time Fitness recently announced it’s searching for a new chief financial officer after its Vice President and CFO Michael R. Robinson announced plans to retire in early 2014. Robinson has been with the company for 12 years. Prior to that he held positions with Next Generation Network and Honeywell International.
