Who's on the move: Waltraud Lenhart at Leki, Chris Irwin at Kill Cliff, Jeremy Town at Footbalance and more

  • Leki, which specializes in trekking/ski poles and gloves, announced that one year after the tragic death of Leki CEO Klaus Lenhart, his widow Waltraud Lenhart has embraced her new role as CEO with the family company. Lenhart continues to lead the family business that she immediately took control of after her husband’s passing in a plane crash in April 2012.
  • RAMP Sports, headed by Founder and CEO Mike Kilchenstein, announced it’s hired two new production specialists to increase production of RAMP skis and snowboards. Doug Webster and Carmen May will be using their skills to increase production capacity in advance of the 2013-2014 ski season. Webster is a natural addition to the RAMP family after years of competitive skiing and as an educator. His responsibilities will include management and operation of RAMP’s new digital machinery. May moves positions at RAMP, from intern to full-time production associate. May earned a marketing degree from Waynesburg University before joining the RAMP team full-time.
  • Kill Cliff, the recovery drink company, recently announced former U.S. Naval SEAL officer Chris Irwin as its president. Irwin comes to Kill Cliff with 16 years of military service as well as time in the private sector running his own business and working in business development. Irwin is an active CrossFit competitor who will be making his second trip in as many years to the CrossFit Games Latin America Regionals this weekend. In 2012, Irwin finished 3rd in the Latin American CrossFit Regional Competition.
  • Footbalance, which specializes in custom footbed technology, recently announced Jeremy Town as its new managing director in North America. Town has served as the brand’s North American vice president of finance for the last year. He will continue as the head of finance in the United States and Canada, while also leading all the aspects of the North American business operations. Town succeeds Matt Kaplan.
  • SKINS Compression, which specializes gradient compression sportswear, has expanded its relationship with long-time business partner, Ted Lohr, owner of Centripetal Sports, Inc. In his new role, Lohr will serve as sales representative for SKINS in the Northwest region. Lohr and his company will serve as an extension of the SKINS brand throughout the Northwest, as well as managing key national accounts and business development within the winter sports and water sports sectors.
  • Hanwag announced the appointment of Steve Von Ruden as North American sales director. In his new role, Von Ruden will oversee the Hanwag sales representative structure and will seek opportunities to grow sales for the German boot company in the outdoor, comfort and casual lifestyle channels. Based in Portland, Ore., he will report directly to John Walbrecht, CEO of Hanwag’s parent company, Fenix Outdoor North America. As a veteran in the footwear industry with 30 years of experience in retail buying, management and sales, Von Ruden will lend his expertise to expand Hanwag’s retail footprint in North America.
  • Active Interest Media, parent company to SNEWS, announced the addition of Kevin Mayfield as its business manager for the Mountain Sports and Healthy Living Groups. Mayfield is a Colorado native who comes to AIM from Bonnier, where he had extensive budgeting and production cost forecasting experience.
  • Active Interest Media also announced the addition of Ben Young as SNEWS sales associate. Young will help retailers and manufacturers get the most from their relationship with SNEWS and primarily focus on subscribers. He will work under SNEWS/OR Daily Director of Sales and Marketing Elizabeth Averbeck and AIM Outdoor Trade Editor in Chief Megan Mulligan.
