SNEWS is looking to add a member to its Boulder-based editorial team. The Assistant Editor must be a lover of the outdoors, a creative storyteller, a fast and accurate news reporter, a champion of outdoor specialty retail, and a tireless ambassador for SNEWS. If this sounds like you, keep reading.
Responsibilities
- Write fast, accurate, daily news articles, as well as weekly features, profiles, and department stories
- Manage the SNEWS home page on a daily basis
- Create, manage, and track all social media activity (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
- Attend and cover all relevant trade shows and industry events
- Oversee the creation and coordination of all editorial e-blasts and newsletters
- Generate custom content ideas
- Work with freelancers on content creation
- Work with our sister publications (Backpacker, Ski, Climbing) on relevant projects
Requirements
- 2 years writing or journalism experience
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Google Docs, Google Analytics; familiarity Sales Force, Facebook Insights and other social media analysis tools and platforms a bonus
- No telecommuting: this position is based in our headquarters in Boulder, CO

- Familiarity and passion for the outdoor landscape, including news, brands, trends, influencers, and issues

- Ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-moving media landscape, a hunger to learn, and an overarching ability to kick ass at everything they do
