Active Interest Media is shaking things up at the leadership level with two new hires and a promotion of a longtime employee.
Following a reorganization of the four divisions—Equine Group, Active Living Group, Marine Group, and Home Group—CEO Andy Clurman said the changes “will fuel growth for brands in our portfolio where we expect to drive significant diversification and expansion. Jonathan Dorn, who was named president of the group four weeks ago, added that the three new team members will help “capitalize on the group’s world-class content and extend our reach in areas like streaming video, smart speaker technology, grassroots experiences, and memberships.”

Veteran sales leader David Perry joins AIM as general manager of SKI, Warren Miller Entertainment, and the Fly Fishing Film Tour. Perry previously ran national sponsorship sales for Warren Miller. He is relocating to Boulder from Dallas, where for the last 10 years he served as VP of National Sales at Home Team Sports, a division of FOX Sports Network.
“It’s been a lifelong dream to ‘come home’ to the mountains and the snowsports industry,” Perry said. “I’m stoked to lead this incredible team and bring my experience in building partnerships that create real engagement and exposure for our clients.”

Having worked her way up from her first position as Rocky Mountain Sales Manager for BACKPACKER, Sharon Houghton is assuming a new role as general manager of AIM’s outdoor and healthy living titles, which include Yoga Journal, Backpacker, Clean Eating, Climbing, National Park Trips, and others.
“Sharon has proven herself as one of AIM’s most successful and hardest working leaders as she’s progressed through the sales ranks here,” Dorn said. “This promotion is well-deserved, and the additions of Yoga Journal and Clean Eating create terrific marketing potential.”
Hired eight years ago, Houghton called her new role “an exciting opportunity to bring an integrated sales approach to titles that collectively reach more than 20 million passionate followers a month.”

Rob Hudson joins the group as Houghton’s new sales director. Formerly an ad executive at Mountain Media and an advertising representative for Men’s Journal, Hudson brings a diverse background in outdoor and fitness media, as well as an entrepreneurial streak and gift for developing custom media services for tourism, resort, and adventure partners.
