Working for the outdoor industry … well … we’re certainly not in it for the money.
But when you’re out with friends or at an event, and someone asks what you do … that’s where one of the many payoffs come — they’re jealous of your gig.
At Outdoor Retailer Winter Market 2015, our sister publication Backpacker magazine highlighted these four industry insiders as those with cool jobs in our field. Check them out (photos by Andrew Bydlon):
>> Melissa Arnot is a professional mountain guide and world traveller and is the American women’s record holder for summits of Mt. Everest (five and counting). >> Brooklyn-based photographer Forest Woodward travels the globe in search of perfect moments, and his assignments have taken him from northern California to South Africa to Brazil. His client rolodex reads like a who’s-who of the outdoor industy: Patagonia, Black Diamond, Outdoor Research, CamelBak, Vasque, Petzl, etc. We asked him what it’s like having the kind of adventure-driven profession that most of us only daydream about.
