Movement Skis JAM and SLUFF top the podium at 2012 Skiing "indy" test

BOULDER, COLORADO (for immediate release) – Dominating the field at Skiing Magazine’s “Indy” test last spring, Movement Skis racked up a pair of awards from one of America’s most respected ski journals.

Movement’s do-everything JAM topped the podium with a Tester’s Choice Award, while their versatile and popular SLUFF was praised with an Official Selection designation. Both skis will be profiled in the magazine’s November 2011 issue.

The JAM (MSRP $779) is a powerful and dynamic ski that is aimed at bigger and more aggressive skiers looking for all-around performance on both piste and in powder. Armed with lots of sidecut and a firm flex, the JAM goes all over the mountain while remaining super-stable at high speed. With a shapely sidecut of 136 – 85 – 117 mm, the JAM is available in 164, 173, 182 cm.

The SLUFF (MSRP: $859) is one of Movement’s most popular skis for skiers who want a quiver of one. The new construction for 11/12 makes the SLUFF more versatile than ever. The SLUFF behaves precisely and predictably at high speed, particularly in difficult conditions and is the perfect tool for technical descents. The Sluff is available in 174 and 184 cm lengths with a profile of 134-99-118 mm.

Skiing’s “Indy Test” was held in Aspen, Colo., during the first week of April. The unique format of the test requested each brand to submit their best “one-ski quiver” — a ski that can do it all and do it every day, regardless of the conditions.

“The indy-brand scene has exploded, and we’ve had to come up with a new way to accommodate testing and coverage,” said Skiing’s test editors. “The Indy Test (is) an audition of sorts, and it’s our intention that the “best” brands, based on this year’s results, will be invited to the mainstream test next year.”
