Well, folks, if you didn’t make it to the annual (and now somewhat infamous) Pacemaster Dealer party at the Health & Fitness Business Expo in August in Denver, SNEWS has the pictures to prove it is as nutty as you’ve heard (if you’re reading this story in the SNEWS News Digest, you’ll need to click on the story online to view the photos, and trust us — it’s worth it). Yes, Pacemaster knows how to party!
Although it’s been some six weeks since the party, the pictures finally came available and they are so divine that SNEWS has to run them. We’re sure you’ll agree.
The start of the costume gig – on Friday Aug. 8 at the Adam’s Mark – was delayed somewhat by a drenching downpour with thunder and lightening the like of which non-Midwesterners never see – bad enough that the baseball game was called for nearly three hours and TV weather forecasters were telling people to get inside and stay inside.
But that wasn’t enough of a deterrent to some 200 dealers and other friends of Pacemaster – some of whom went full-hog when it came to costumes and accompanying giggles. Since the party was in the lower level, all attendees had to enter and parade through the lobby – something that created quite a stir particularly since the Tuskeegee Airmen were holding their own convention at the hotel at the time.
First prize winners for best costume were “Venus and Serena Williams,” portrayed in total beaded detail by Rob Graham and Brett Shoebridge of Fitness Expo in Louisiana – with this much party prep how did they make it to the show that day? They even had the personalities of each down as they played it to the hilt, strutting their stuff with tennis rackets in hand. (This was a real jaw-dropper for those Tuskeegee Airmen.)
Second prize went to “Baby and Mom,” done by Chuck Dunn from Brunswick Fitness in New Jersey. He gets kudos for going out in public with such a cuuu-uuute night shirt – with his hairy legs poking out below that baby blue sheath.
And, last but certainly not least, we had to show you the blackmail shot of the Pacemaster crew – maybe if you’re a retailer and you threaten to broadcast this over the Internet you’ll get some great prices on equipment. From left to right, President Gerald Staub, National Sales Manager Cindi Bletko, International Sales Manager James Carrier, and the premiere Pacemaster Party pooch CFO/Vice President Tom Staub.
