The Physical Education for Progress Grant (PEP) is one program that is threatened to be cut with the president’s wartime budget cuts, according to a Washington Post story. In the Jan. 6 story, the paper wrote: “Overall education spending would remain frozen at about $50 billion, the same as in 2002, after doubling over the previous six years. The president even proposes doing away with a school-based physical education initiative named for a former aide to Sen. Ted Stevens (Alaska), the top Republican on the Senate Appropriations Committee.” The P.E.4Life pro-school PE group asks supporters to join. (Go to www.pe4life.org/joinus.php.)
